Welcome

The Portage Tourist Bureau is located at the Fort la Reine Museum, just east of Portage la Prairie, at the junction of Hwy 1A, and Hwy 26. Information is available on local activities and attractions, as well as maps and assistance for those travelling across Canada, the northern mid-western United States, or other areas in Manitoba.

The Tourist Bureau is pleased to be open all year round to help visitors in Portage or those just passing through!
During the summer months while the Fort la Reine Museum is open our hours are Mon-Sat 9-6 and Sunday 12-6.
From Mid September until Mid May the Tourist Bureau has reduced hours which are Mon-Sat 10-4.

In Portage la Prairie and looking for something to do? Why not try out one of our Heritage Road Tours? They provide directions on a variety of interesting drives through the local countryside. The duration of each tour ranges from a couple of hours to however long you wish to make them! If you are interested find them here!

Portage is also home to Island Park! The park is located on an 'island' that is nearly surrounded by an old oxbow of the Assiniboine River. The park is home to a duck pond, playground, walking paths, picnic tables, an arboretum, and a deer pen.
In addition Island Park is home to Splash Island Waterpark and the newly finished PCU Center a state of the art multiplex including two arenas, a pool, running track, and fitness center. Both of these facilities are run by the Portage Regional Recreation Authority an organization that provides fitness and recreation programs to the City of Portage and surrounding area.

The Portage Golf Course is located at the western end of Island Park. Established in 1922 the Portage Golf course offers a full 18 hole golfing experience, with club house and club and cart rentals. League and tournament play are also available throughout the summer months.
While in Portage why not try some of the city's excellent restaurants or browse our many shops!

If you are interested in establishing or expanding a business in the Portage la Prairie area, please contact our Regional Development Corporation at www.centralplains.ca or the City of Portage la Prairie's Economic Development Department for assistance.
